SURF LESSONS

Group lessons with Ballito Surf School are a great way to experience surfing one of our world-famous breaks in a 2+ people group setting. Our instructors are highly trained, friendly, and on a mission to ensure you have the best possible time in the water. We run a low ratio of instructors to surfers at 1:4 to ensure you receive plenty of attention and individual feedback.

Lessons are 1 hour long and are subject to weather conditions and tides on the day.

Please note: age preference for group surf lessons is 9+
Ratio: 1 instructor to 3 or 4 students

All equipment including a surfboard suited to your abilities. For beginners, we use soft safe, stable surfboards which are easy to balance, paddle and surf on. For intermediates, we have fiberglass surfboards available on request, however, if you would prefer to bring your own surfboard along, feel free to.

Surf safety. Your instructor will conduct a 10min briefing on ocean safety and pop-up technique prior to taking you into the water to catch some waves.

Instructors/ratio – industry-leading ratio of 1 instructor to 4 surfers as a maximum.

All instructors have a vast knowledge of the local area and will only conduct lessons in surf conditions in waist-deep water with broken waves perfect for beginners.

At Ballito Surf School we deliver lessons to adults, families, couples, groups, and kids 8yrs old and above. Our lessons are specifically designed to teach you to surf at your own pace in a laid-back environment to build further self-confidence, so you can continue in the sport of surfing and feel confident in the water.

BEGINNER LESSONS

Beginner group lessons are ideal for anyone ages 8yrs and above trying out surfing for the first time. It is recommended that you are comfortable in the water and enjoy learning in a group setting. Whether it be a moment shared with your friends or meeting new people relative to your age and ability, this option will ensure you get the most out of a social surf experience.

INTERMEDIATE LESSONS

Intermediates are required to have previous surf experience and should be comfortable enough to surf on their own without the help of an instructor to push them on waves. If this sounds like you and you are looking to improve your overall technique in a group setting, then this option is for you.
